Re: Please, Please, Please, Any Other Very Tall Nurses Out There?????

Hey all you tall nurses!! I am 6'1" and have spent countless hours looking for the best clothes including scrubs. There is a web site called allheartmedical.com. If you click on the Cherokee icon, they have a lot of scrubs in long. The ones I buy are under Cherokee, then go to cherokee workwear and they are unisex draw string with a cargo pocket. They say the inseam is 33 inches, but they go way past my shoes. They are cheap and they are very comfortable. I buy all my scrubs there.

As for those of you who are looking for other long pants, there are 2 websites that are awesome. One is longelegantlegs.com. The other is an ebay store called susanstallfashions. Susanstallfashions actually buys long elegant legs discontinued items and sells them for half the price. Everything is new with tags and is great quality. I love this brand and everything is for the tall woman 5'11" and over. Check it out!!

I am your height and the 34" inseam by SmartScrubs is generous on me. www.smartscrubs.com

Re: Please, Please, Please, Any Other Very Tall Nurses Out There?????

Andrea, I am 5'9" and have a 32 inch inseam. It is almost as hard to find that in elastic waist pants (my preferred) as your 35-37. I also wear a size 11-12 shoe, and good grief, what it is like to find shoes.
A Nurse I worked with a year or so ago who had an inseam similar to yours and was over 6 feet tall told me that she got her pants at Tafford.com.
Good luck!
BTW-In nursing school our caps looked like inverted ice cream cones. Because my hair was pretty short, I usually had to use at lest six white hair pins to keep it on. One day I was leaning over an ortho pt, raised up, and nearly tore my hair off my head when the pt's trapeze (which had been hooked up out of the way while I was working w/the pt) caught my cap. Tall people are never totally in the clear, know what I mean?

Re: Please, Please, Please, Any Other Very Tall Nurses Out There?????

No advice here on pants, but one warning for tall nurses out there (I am 5'10). You always hear about protecting your back when lifting/turning patients, but no one tells you to protect it when bending for long periods of time! I hurt my back in our nursing school clinical in the newborn nursery because the cribs do not raise up and I spent all day bent over bathing babies! I can help move a 400 lb patient up in bed and turn q 2 with no problem - but I hurt my back working with 8 lb babies!!!! Just be careful out there and when possible, bring the beds up to your level!
