Thanks so much for responding to my question....But, I am really new to ALLnurses.com and I don't know which "site" you were telling me to go to...Is there a study guide on the PBDS test? If you could be more exact on which site I need to visit, that would be great. Again Thanks

Please go to the yellow-orange bar - below your login information - on the upper portion of this BB/page that you are viewing. There are options: User CP, FAQ, Calenders, Members list, etc.
One of the options is "Search".
Click on the option and where it prompts you for what you want to search put in:
PBDS
This will take you to a list of posts about PBDS testing.
Please be aware that many of the "study" guides for travelers have incorrect information in them. I noted some incorrect data in mine before taking the test. Also, as the test is for "critical thinking" written guides are not all that helpful to begin with.
I do not know about OR, but most of the information is " universal" and not geared to a specialty.
I was told that the pass rate is about 70%.

I had to take that test for a seasonal contract once. It was unlike any test I've ever taken. It was on a computer, and had videos of actual patients and you had to type as fast as you could what you thought the diagnosis was, all the nursing interventions you would do (don't forget the simple things like assessing pain, putting oxygen on, etc). The thing that made it difficult was you had to think like a doctor, and write all the things you would "anticipate" that the doctor would diagnose and then order for those diagnoses... labs, procedures, treatments (drugs and dosages) etc.
The scenarios were pretty straightforward, though, like a blood transfusion reaction, DKA, Abdominal pain, etc. They were no "trick" scenarios at all.
I usually test really well, and actually enjoy taking most tests, but I found this test difficult. I did pass it without any problems, but it was stressful because it was timed very tightly, and once you left a scenario you could not go back to it. One of the few tests I did not enjoy taking!
I don't think it correlates with actual nursing care all that closely, and I don't really know a good way to study for it, or if that's even possible. I didn't, because I had no idea that they were going to have us take that test nor did I know anything about it. The only advice I would give is try to relax, think things through for every scenario, write as much as you can in the time given, almost stream of consciousness kinds of things to get it all in, and then move on to the next scenario. They don't judge you on your grammar, spelling, or compositional style, just that you notice certain things and do certain things.
I don't know the pass rate. At this facility there were a few people who failed during my orientation, but they worked with them to show them where they had made mistakes and how to improve, and then let them take it again.
Good luck!

I had to take this test during my internship at my current job. I remember it being different, since the focus was not only on critical thinking, but TIMED critical thinking, and anticipation of problems and phys orders, etc. And as a new grad 2 months s/p NCLEX. Interesting though.

I think the hardest part of this test is to remember to put down the basic things you do, the things all nurses do like to provide comfort measures, walk with a patient (i think there was one that had gas pains) record BMs things that you do but are so automatic that you just dont even think to put it down on the test.
Also (at least at my facility) if you put the wrong dx but have the right interventions for the dx that you put you will still get credit for it
