Re: Pay rate for nursing assistants?

My hospital hires nursing students with 40 hours of clinicals as NAs for a base rate of $7.10. Working weekend nights from 7p to 7a jacks that up by $2. Not much, but hours are 100% flexible (only had to commit to 3 shifts a month, your choice, plus some holiday shifts, but your choice). The learning opportunities are the real payoff for a nursing student.

Re: Pay rate for nursing assistants?

In NC they pay range for CNA is 7-8$/hr. Really sucky for they amount of work they do. Increases for #years but still not great.

Re: Pay rate for nursing assistants?

I'm from Pittsburgh, PA and at the LTC facility where I work, during the 3 wk classes to become certified, they start you at 7.80 and when you graduate they start you at 9.95. They then send you to take the test to become certified once your 2 wk orientation is over and they pay for the test. Shift differentials for 3-11 and 11-7 shifts is .50 extra and if they need you to do a double shift, you get overtime, shift differential, and a bonus. On the weekday the bonus is 25 and the weekend is 50 but you can negoitate especially if they are really short and bonuses will be doubled. They still don't pay nearly as much as the job is worth. If they started CNA's at 12-13 an hr, I think we wouldn't be as short staffed as we normally are.
