OMG could you just IMAGINE.."Hi My name is *** I am your RN for the night, and I am going to assist you with sex, you have to put that in here and do this and she has to do this, while you touch here..." OH MY GOD, or " I am going to use this hoyer lift to place you on top of your mate, while I stick my hand in here.." ahhh I can't even phathom trying to do do that while keeping straight face and not lauging like a 6th grader during a sex ed class.

At my first job as a nurse practitioner, I was told by my boss, who was the owner of the practice AND an MD, that if the patient had insurance and implied that they wanted abx (even if it wasn't medically indicated), that I should, "Just write them something small like Amoxil. We want them to keep coming back." Huh? Was out of there fast!

You mean to say these "higher-ups" actually put their money where their mouths were and descended onto the floor to perform actual "care" (so to speak)?

I think the higher ups consisted up a few social workers and a nurse manager. I have to double check with my charge nurse when she works nights with me again- haven't heard the story in awhile. :lol I'm just glad they d/c'd that idea before I got there.

Actually I have seen a few nurse managers actually do patient care when their floor is short. One nurse manager does all the patient care on a new admit until she has an idea of what they can or can't do.
