Question Littmann Soft Touch Cardiology Stethoscope?

Hi! Does anyone have any experience with the Littmann Soft Touch Cardiology Stethoscope? How does it compare to the Master Cardiology? I will be working on a cardiac step down unit after graduation next month and am looking to buy a new stethoscope. Any information would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I have the Master Cardiology, which I bought after a Sprague and a Littman Lightweight Select (SE, I think, can't remember). I love the MC; I can hear anything. I often get patients who in report I am told have diminished lung sounds, or it's charted as such, but *I* don't hear diminished: I HEAR. I can't compare it to the Soft Touch, actually I haven't heard of that one (is it new?).

I know you can't go wrong with MC; good luck in your choice!

Re: Littmann Soft Touch Cardiology Stethoscope?

Thanks! I'm not sure if the Cardiology Soft Touch Chestpiece (STC) is new but I've never seen anyone with one before. I saw it on the Littmann website when I was looking up the Master Cardiology. The MC supposedly has a little better sound quality (a 10 compared to a 9 for the STC). I've heard lots of great things about the Master Cardiology so I think I'm going to go with that one! Thanks again for the info!

Just got one and I love it. It's pretty much the same as the master card but with kung fu grip. I'm really really impressed with it.

Hi! Thanks for the reply. Kung fu grip, huh? So now that I know of someone who has a Cardiology STC and likes it, I guess I have a harder decision to make than I thought! hahaha Thanks again!

Re: Littmann Soft Touch Cardiology Stethoscope?

In all seriousness it's pretty much the same steth. It has the same lumen in a lumen feature, same ear pieces. The Big difference that I could see is that the chest piece has the slight apex to it and the squishy stuff where your fingers go. I like the shape of the chest piece, it works really well with "big" patients when you have skinfolds to deal with, as well as just hearing great. I love the "tunable diaphragm" as well.
hope this helps
