incident reports punitive?

hi. Can a nurse be punished if he or she has several incident report of the same kind (not hurting any pts or even jeopardizing them) Is it better to be dishonest and not report them.
Also. Is it legal to carry prefilled medications pens for sq injections?
these nedles don't have any safety feasures and are not retractable. you have to remove the needle from the pen and discard.
thank you for your info.

Re: incident reports punitive?

Yes, depending on what the incidents are about, the nurse can be reprimanded, or even fired. If a nurse does the same thing repeatedly, is aware and has been given opportunity to change the behavior, then often the nurse is punished or fired.

If a nurse is causing problems whether it involves a patient or not, then it is not better to ignore it. Behaviors of nurses can have an impact on patient care even if it doesn't seem directly related.

I'm not sure what you mean by carrying around these pens? Do you mean insulin pens? Epinephrine?
