I Was Accepted Into Nursing school and now I'm so scared. I have more people telling

I have more people telling me how hard it's going to be then I have congradulating me. Don't get me wrong, I am so proud of myself, I was one of the 23 accepted out of about 200. I have 5 years of CNA expeirience and deep down, I know I will do well, I'm just so so nervous. I keep thinking I will fail the first semester. I just don't know. My nervousness has over weighed my happiness. Maybe I just have too many negative people around. Is this the norm before starting nursing school??

I think many people feel concerned about doing well in their course of study.
But, when you're motivated, then you'll do well.
Are you motivated?

With 5 years of experience already with you, you are already acquainted with the profession.

Good luck

(maybe keep away from those negative people, then relax and enjoy your studying)

To all of the naysayers surrounding you...when they begin telling you how hard it will be, my advice would be to reply sincerely, "I know it will be challenging and it will be worth it in the end." Why would anyone want something like a nursing program to be easy anyway, this is a profession that should offer a challenge when training.

If these same individuals keep bringing you down, even with the slightest snarky comment, I would weed them out of your life, you won't have time to deal with their negativity anyway

Clearly the admissions committee thinks you are highly capable, as you were one of the lucky 23! (Come March, I hope to be able to say that I was chosen as well...)

I think that with your motivation to succeed, you will be fine. Even though nursing school is challenging, it will feel like a major accomplishment when you get through. We all go through the nervous phase, but stay positive and you will be fine.

Congratulations on being accepted into nursing school! I think people like "scaring" people - have you ever heard a bunch of women talking about having a baby to someone who never has? It is normal to be nervous about the unknown, hopefully you will be fine.

Congratulations. You can do it. It is hard and a lot of reading, but doable. I'm one of those students that has to read things 3-5 times to comprehend things and I made it. You have a lot of things going for you from the start.
As a CNA you may have come across some meds being given to pt's. You can relate to some diseases of the elderly. Your first clinicals should be a cake walk for you.

Its normal to be nervous.

Ignore the naysayers. Be proud of your accomplishments and look forward to getting started. It is hard work but you will do just great. Jules
P.S. Just between you and me, maybe they aren't as bright as you are and thats why it was so hard for them?

Good luck with nursing school....ADVICE...I know you didn't ask for this but here goes

Since you have all that experience as a CNA you might be tempted to tutor others in class or add knowledgable comment in lecture...don't do it, especially in first semester....Nursing school prides itself on making nurses out of young chicks not mottled hens.

Don't you just wonder what those people would think if you gave THEM advice on their daily business?

Scared is good, it keeps us on our toes. We just have to stay this side of "panic". Panic isn't good.

I'm hoping your SC stands for where I live, because I want to be cheering you in the next couple of years.

You are going to be fine. After all you are/will be somebody. YOU are going to be a NURSE!

Congrats!!! You will do well! A little fear is good, but prioritization and hard work will get you through. There will alot of reading, paperwork and critical thinking (the "what if"). Stay on schedule, get a place to do your reading and find a study group (this can help you quite a bit).
I had to work very hard for my ADN, but I made it!
