Dr. Jarvik does Lipitor ads big time, on tv, in several major publications and I believe I saw a internet ad also. I do not approve. I know there is a lot of money changing hands here and it would be hard to turn down. I wish the drug company would stop spending so much on these high priced ads and reduce the price of their medication which is too high.

I suppose it must be legal, otherwise they wouldn't be doing it. But I don't feel like they are ethical because they must be being paid to endorse certain products.

I just hate the whole "Ask your doctor" ad game.

If it's a way to bring awareness to certain issues, I support that. I do agree that the cost of drugs is far to expensive.

As long as the drug is something the doctor would prescribe, I see no problem.

I see that commercial all the time with Dr Jarvik...lol..All I can think of when I do see it , is that he needs to do something with that hair of his....rotflmao...
I have no problem with Doctors doing these ads...but I would "assume" they take the med themselves, or I would consider that false advertising...jmpo

Wow, really indebth article.
Had to click on several links to get to it. Long though, most people will not want to bother to read anything that long. Most people like their world summed up in a one liner.

I don't like it. It seems unprofessional to me, JMHO. I also don't like the whole "ask your doctor" campaigns. I am all for informing patients but many of the drug companies have slick ads, websites, etc.. seems like they are coaching patients what to say in order to get certain medications.
