I just took my Hesi exit exam last week and got a 908. They say that the score indicates an excellent chance of passing the NCLEX exam. Does anyone have any thoughts on that? Has anyone had similar scores on the Hesi and did well on the NCLEX?

I did well on both, and I do think that scoring well on the HESI can be a predictor of NCLEX success, but don't expect the tests to be very similar. In some ways, the HESI is harder because the questions are more "factual" or knowledge based, whereas the NCLEX is more situational and requires more critical thinking.

The point that I'd make to you is to not get yourself too worked up about the NCLEX, do into it thinking about what you'd do in the given situation in an ideal world, and you'll do fine.

I scored 1062 on the HESI. I passed NCLEX in 75 questions. However, the HESI and NCLEX were nothing alike, IMO. The NCLEX was much easier than HESI.

I am really not all that nervous about taking the test. At least I am trying not to. I guess maybe I should be and when it comes time, maybe I will be. One of my best strengths is critical thinking. There is a review class that my instructor is offering but I don't feel that it will benefit me any. I will study my Saunders in my areas of weakness on the Hesi. I was just curious as to how close the test actually was because I did find that the questions were more difficult and factual based then the Saunders NCLEX review. Thank you for your response.

I took HESI and passed. Can't remember what my score was. I also took boards and passed with 75 questions. Our instructors told us the HESI was a predicter of how well we would do on boards. I did find some similarities with the questions though. I feel that studying and taking the HESI helped prepare me for boards. I also used Saunders, Mosbey's for preparation for both tests. Also, the MADE EASY series to help me update and understand certain areas of weakness.

Our school believes highly in the ol' HESI as the predector and so far, it's been pretty darn accurate. Of course we get the students who are right on the line of the 850 so it can go either way - but generally the instructors tell us if we score more than 925 on the HESI, it's been their experience, we'll pass the NCLEX on the 1st try.

We'll see - our entire class scored at least 925 on our last HESI, so it will be interesting to see if we do in fact all pass the NCLEX on the 1st try.

You'll do fine. I got 900 and passed with 75 questions. Don't freak out though because you WILL think you flunked the NCLEX when you take it.

I got 950 on my HESI and passed the NCLEX the first time, with 75 questions. I could not say that HESI was more or less difficult that the NCLEX but after taking the NCLEX I was only 100% sure of 5 questions...it was torture until I found out I passed.
