Several years ago, one of my cats became obstructed. His was caused from a calicium oxalate plug instead of the more common struvite plug. This is why a UA should be done because sometimes you are surprised. So now I feed him to keep his urine to a more alkaline to neutral ph. I also give him canned food and have a pet water fountain to increase his water intake. I have also controlled his food intake because overweight felines have more of a tendency to become obstructed because anatomy issues. This guy will be 16 years old in October and he is doing well.
