This has been really getting on my nerves lately...
|

Okay, it's HIPAA, not HIPPA. And, it's JCAHO, not JACHO. And, another one that's been getting to me lately: it's spelled "definitely", not "definately".
Thanks for listenting. Okay. Much better now...

Glad you got that off your chest, Greg.
Now about that typo in the last line of your post....
JK, this is why we don't focus on spelling and grammar much here. Everyone makes mistakes.

I am a spelling freak as everyone knows. I try to hold my ire but those things are just part of the slanguage of netspeak. You just gotta take the thorns with the roses as Aunt Lila used to say.

OK my peeve is the "THERE, THEIR, THEY'RE" especially when I read it in an official memo from work... Like from your Director: "ALL STAFF SHOULD PARK THERE CARS IN THE BACK LOT, NOT IN THE VISITOR LOT. VISITORS ARE ANGRY AND THEIR STARTING TO COMPLAIN", for example.
Good grief you have enough letters after your name to complete the alphabet, please learn this one so my head doesn't explode.
Typos don't bug me. But their is something about seeing the wrong there their that drives me bonkers.
And don't get me started on the "two, too, to" thing, two.

How about this one, used regularly in conversation: irregardless! As in "irregardless of the facts, she did that". THERE'S NO SUCH WORD! It's REGARDLESS, you shmohs, LOL. Regardless. As in, 'without regard'. Whew.
Text message abbreviations used in place of actual typed words, as in "ur". Just what is that all about? It reminds me of speed-reading courses popular a decade or two ago.
Seeing an apostrophe placed in a word for the heck of it. As in "Sale on Banana's". It's plural. No apostrophe. And yet all the time "See the previous memo's".
I think I'm done for now

Aha!
A former member of the "spelled that one wrong" department.
Now, if only I could get over caring when people say or write..."irregardless" there is no such word, it is "regardless". I used to say irregardless until someone just HAD to point it out to me, sigh, now I am stuck with knowing that everytime I hear somone else use it...

I think dethaw for thaw is the only word that irks me, aside from prostrate for prostate.
Other than that, the typos here don't drive me bonkers. I realize that quite a few people when posting here, had just gotten off of work, tired, ready for bed, etc.

Thanks for making me feel better, guys! I just had a post pulled today for pointing out a their/there thing. I didn't make a personal attack, but that kind of thing just wears on me. I'm glad to see I am not alone. I will continue to suffer alongside you in silence.
