Curious - Has anyone ever....

I have recently seen ads for nurses for flu shot clinics. Has anyone had experience with this? What about the companies, any to stay away from. Pros and cons of this type of work

Re: Has anyone ever....

I worked a flu clinic last fall to make some extra Christmas money. The pay was good and I enjoyed the experience. I loved talking to all the people. I plan to do it again this fall. I did it through an agency and the pay was very good. We went to several high-rise retirement centers.

Try Maxim HealthCare if there is a branch in your neighborhood (they are supposed to be national). I have done them since I got my license; the only reason why I don't plan to do it this year is because I am trying to get more med-surg experience. They are loads of fun, at least to me. Sometimes, there is so little to do that you have to bring a book to keep from going to sleep, other times, it can get busy, but nothing like my clinic in the hospital. They'll send you to places like Pathmark, Walgreens, private drug stores, airports, Costcos, BJ Wholesale, and even MACYS department store (we did their corporate employees and we got LOADS of coupons and gift certificates!!!).

It got to the point where I used to sign up for specific spots each year, because I knew they would be fun.
