Graduation gift

Hey folks!

Just looking for some opinions....

My sister is graduating from nursing school next week, and I've decided to get her membership to a professional organization and/or a nursing journal.

Problem is:

She really wants to do emergency nursing (so I was going to get her all set up with that), but she's not sure they if will have a training class in the near future, hence, where she will end up working.

So, I was thinking of getting her a membership/subscription for general (non-specific) nursing. (even though she has her heart set on ER).

Which one should I get? And, do you have any journals that you would recommend? (Man, I hope she's not reading this!!!)

THX!!

Re: Graduation gift

Give her a certificate good for membership and/or subscription to the organization and/or journal of her choice.

You could make a very cool certificate layout and copy covers from some of the journals along with logos from the professional organizations.

She'd probably enjoy the flexibility.

GREAT IDEA!!!

I didn't realize that I had that flexibility with professional journals...I thought it was only magazines!

Thank you!!

I subscribed to RN 2007 and have found it to be helpful as a new graduate.

Re: Graduation gift

American Nurses Association is generic to all types of nursing. She would learn a lot from their journal and have opportunity to participate and network with more mature nurses. Plus, the fee is 50% off for new grads. www.nursingworld.org.
