You know the way I read it was, when you first Graduate you do everything with enthusiasm and try to see and do everything but the more experience you have you become less enthusiastic and dont need to prove yourself and no longer want to see and do everything not as somebody stated about eating their young.

haha! what's really funny is not the joke itself, but the reactions and lengthy discussions; this is ironic but important to notice.

I wanted to add my comments on the joke, but I better leave the space for others.

What I learned from reading different responses here is our diversity. People react differently, but they are not neccessary good or bad. We just have to respect other people's point of views and try not to offend them since most of us here know the importance of sensitivity.

I think it's funny and I haven't even started LPN school yet! I think it's funny becuase I have worked other jobs where I was the experienced one and the rookies were the "new grads".....and I have been the "new grad" and know there is a little truth behind it all in this joke.

I'm no saying "lighten up" at all. Alls I'm saying is that it's a 'joke'.

Some people will find it funny.
Some won't.

Both have their right to express how they felt about it. You obvisouly didn't find it funny. I thought it was.

And that should be it. No need for either one of us to discuss why we didn't or why we did find it funny. Personally, I think it's pointless - appreciation of art is subjective in nature. To borrow a quote - "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder".



See - I avoid this issue completely! When I do my spontaneous routines at local bars, I poke fun at myself and my family - and many a time, I don't have to make stuff up. You should see me doing impressions of my brother or my father

I am about to graduate...but I have been a CNA/Nurse Tech for 23 years...I get the humor behind it all...and ummmm scarey but I kinda think along the lines of the seasoned nurse already...thats bad huh? Don't get me wrong...I am really excited to be becoming a nurse and can not wait to start my new venture....but I still thought it was funny. Thanks for the giggle.....

Loved it! I fluctuate between burn out and balance. Luckily, I know when I get to burnout. I also think it is good to know when to be OVERLY anal, which I think this article is good at to show us how to balance effectivly without being burned out from micromanaging. I think it is a good way to distinguish from a true emergency versus a patient just a little over anxious.

I am a a graduate nurse and I'd like to disgaree with the last part...On the contrary , I think most graduate nurses would find this funny, because in a way it is true...I am from the other side of the globe and it seems that nurses here have somewhat similiar shall I say traits like you guys have...
