I need a primer in gastic banding. Do you have any tips for care that is specific to bariatrics?

Re: Gastric Banding

Most dont stay in hospital, its usually same day surgery anymore. When they first started doing them, they may stay overnight obs.
Our patients got up and started ambulating and could start on some clears as soon as we got results of their post op xray. Most were pretty cut and dried laps, in and out quick.
One thing that you might make sure of is that you actually have the bariatric equipment in the room for the patient and avoid putting patients in the same room. We tried to keep patients that were post op banding in privates simply for necessity of space.
