Just wondering about what funny experiences y'all have had during your first days on the job. I'll share 2:
1)On my first week in a psychiatric hospital where they took children and teens, I was headed outside with the staff for the morning meeting. Before I knew what happened, I was thrown to the floor. The staff, none of whom knew me well, had mistaken me for a teen patient (I look very young), and thought I was attempting to escape. Took me a month to live that down.
2)My first shift as an agency nurse, the charge nurse asked to orient me handed me off to a tech, who asked if I'd mind feeding a patient. I didn't mind, although, as bad as they needed nurses, I thought I'd be giving meds. When I was about done, the charge nurse walked back in, and said "So, you're our new tech, right?" I said, "No, I'm your new RN." I wish I had a picture of her face. Priceless. OK, your turn. Any good ones?
