Need Information - Float pool RN's......any information would be helpful

Hi,
I am currently employed as a float pool RN and would like to gather as much information as I can to take to a committee regarding pay for floats. The hospital I am at now does not offer any more pay to be a float nurse, unless you are a prn float with no benefits. We do however, only work every 4th weekend, 1 major and 1 minor holiday and we self schedule.
If you could include your hospital size, the state you are in and the pay your floats receive that would be invaluable to my research.
Thanks for your help,
Jennifer

Re: Float pool RN's......any information would be helpful

I work float pool in Idaho for a 400 ish bed hospital system. We self schedule, work every 4th weekend, and work one winter holiday and one spring holiday. We do not receive any extra pay to be in the float pool, but we have all of our education and certifications paid for by the hospital for any unit that we want to float to. We've discussed extra pay before but never officially approached anyone about it. Good luck in your committee meeting!
