A PA at work told one of our techs not to become a nurse because "they're all fat, miserable and all they do is complain about their jobs". At first I wasn't too happy with this ..... but then I can see how things look that way to him. Come to think of it, that describes about half of our staff. Perhaps nursing is simply an unhealthy profession.

This problem is not just in nursing...unhealthy and overweight is EVERYWHERE!!!!! It's my understanding that 60% of the population is overweight. Small children are already victims of obesity, just take a look around your elementary schools. America is the fattest nation on this planet and researchers predict it will only get worse if people are not changing their life styles.
The automobile industriy plans to build bigger cars to accommodate the ever larger growing customers....just another way to make a profit and make cars even more expensive. Soon you'll pay $100.00 for a SUPER size pickup truck, let alone the gas you need to pay for to haul the pounds.
One thing is for sure, it will keep docs and nurses in business...somebody needs to take care of the ever growing number of patients suffering from illnesses that are a direct result of being overweight.
