Family Practice Guideline Question

I was wondering if anyone could help me. I work in a family practice clinic and we have a new administrator who is coming in and doing a lot of changes. Changes can be difficult at times, I do know that, but some of the changes I am questioning. I am wondering if there are any standards or guidelines out there for Family Practice. For instance she wants heights on everyone every 3 months. We do that on all young kids but not adults. The American Diabetic Association, I do believe, requires heights every year on adults and that is what we do. I guess it is things like that. I am looking for facts to present. If anyone could help me or direct me where to look I would appreciate it.

Re: Family Practice Guideline Question

Is your clinic a Rural Health Clinic or accredited by Joint Commission? If so, I would look at those standards.

I'm in a Joint Commission accredited clinic and we do heights every visit; we use them to do BMI's every visit.

You could also try googling family practice guidelines to see what you get.

Your providers in the clinic probably need to be involved in this as well. We have standards, and then we have personal quirks about how we want things done.

I would say that if the height every visit is not a standard, nor something the provider wants, then I wouldn't add the extra work for the nurses.
