Failing In Ky

HELLO ALL

I JUST WANTED TO SEE IF ANYONE HAD ANY POINTERS!!! I DID GREAT MY FIRST 3 SEMESTERS OF THIS ADN PROGRAM AND THIS LAST SEMESTER AT MIDTERM I AM FAILING!!!! I SWEAR I CAN'T TELL IF I'M READING THE RIGHT BOOK OR THE RIGHT NOTES. IT'S LIKE THEY WANT US TO FAIL. THE SEMESTER BEHIND ME HAD 80 STUDENTS AND ONLY 60 GRADUATED AND FAILED IN JUST THE LAST SEMESTER OUR CLASS IS SO BIG THAT ONLY 8 OF THEM WERE ABLE TO RETURN! I'M SO SCARED BECAUSE THEY (8) CALL THEMSELVES THE DECIMAL CLUB BECAUSE MOST OF THEM WERE "A" STUDENTS AND FAILED BY 4 TENTHS AND 3 TENTHS OF A POINT. I AM SCARED TO DEATH AND TRYING TO KEEP FROM HAVING A NERVOUS BREAKDOWN.

LOSING IT IN LOUISVILLE
THANKS

Re: Failing In Ky

What school are you in? Is it JCC or Galen? I'm in Louisville and I am currently at JCC Technical downtown.

Re: Failing In Ky

I, too, am in a program that seems to be 'sticking it' to us the last semester. It doesn't sound as bad as yours, though. Don't give up. Study every minute you can. If you don't already, do as many NCLEX-style questions as you can get your hands on (Saunders, Lippincott, NCLEX Q&A Made Incredibly Easy, etc.) so you understand body systems and disease processes inside and out. (Even then some questions we get on exams are impossible to figure out.) What units do you have left?

Re: Failing In Ky

I know how you feel. I am a student at Eeastern Kentucky and I missed the midterm by 6 tenths so they kicked me out of the program. I have to re-apply for next semester. It hurts!!! Stick in there!!!

Re: Failing In Ky

I am in my last semester in an ASN program in Lafayette, IN. We finished neuro and psych and are starting cardiac and respiratory after spring break. Have you talked with your instructors about this? Sometimes when anxiety and stress levels are high as it is for last semester students, it seems that everything is going wrong. Remember that your instructors were in your shoes once. Give them a chance--what do you have to lose?

Re: Failing In Ky

Maybe your instructors could recommend a classmate to study with. Does your school have peer tutoring or someone that can assist with study skills?

Re: Failing In Ky

hi...I am from Southeast KY and I too failed out just last semester of ADN program, but I passed the practical diploma program. I am now working. But orientation is only day 5 and stress/anxiety is really high.
I am stuck with another person (worker)who doesn't know how to do primary care...
enough said. The person has been there for years, but just today the person has blamed me for things that I had no control over. What do I do?
I want to work + I want to go back to school, but just not where I live. I need a change of scenery and another school.
