Question Question? - Career Learning Center & Excelsior College

Hello! I'm new to this so please bare with me. First off, has anyone obtained their RN license/ASN through excelsior college but attended classes @ career learning center located in broward, florida??? OK...another question do i NEED this career learning center to enroll into excelsior college? From my understanding career learning center is sort of a tutorial program that helps u to get through excelsior college by providing classroom-like settings. PLease help!!! I'm confused on what to do!!

Re: Career Learning Center & Excelsior College

I obtained my ASN at Excelsior College. I did not use career learning center or any other tutoring program. I simply used the study guides provided by the college and the textbooks recommended by the college. You do not have to enroll in career learning center to obtain an Excelsior nursing degree. In my opinion, it is an unnecessary expense. Check out the distance learning forum, there are MANY threads there on Excelsior. Good luck!

Re: Career Learning Center & Excelsior College

I totally agree with the prior poster--I to graduated from Excelsior and I did not use any outside tutorial program. I used the study guides provided by the college. I've never heard any real positive info about these places in my area. IMO they are only out to get your money and you do not have to used them to get a degree from Excelsior. As a matter of fact if you go to the EC website they should still have a message that warns you against using these type of companies.

Good luck with your studies.

(Moving this thread to the Distance Learning forum)

Welcome to allnurses! There's lot of useful info and support/encouragement available here.

There are lots of older threads here about EC and all the companies that offer to "help" you with Excelsior. It would be well worth your time to review some of them.

Re: Career Learning Center & Excelsior College

I'm at the enf my Excelsior ASN studies and am just waiting to take the CPNE next week. All I used were the books and study guides, AND the practice tests.

You do not need anything but Excelsior.

Re: Career Learning Center & Excelsior College

I sure hope it's a success story. I'm actually pretty calm about it. I figure if I'm not ready now I never will be. I do have to spend some time in the next week finding pulses and taking manual BPs, but other than that, I'm confident.

You started later, calliesue. You'll get there. I have being fired to thank for banging out the last 4 exams in two months. There's always a pony somewhere in that pile....

Re: Career Learning Center & Excelsior College

I am interested in EC. What are the guidelines for taking NCLEX in a state that is not your home state (such as Tennessee)? I am in GA, and they do not recognize EC. Any info would be helpful.
