Hi all,
I'm new to this site. I have a question of anyone with some insight on CCL nursing. I am an experienced ER nurse and I am considering a CCL job. Just curious if anyone has made this jump and what I should expect. I'm just getting burnt out in the ED and need a change.

My only experience with the CCL is bringing my STEMIs there. When acute MIs are not going on, what else does a CCL RN do?

Any info will help, my interview is in the am

I spent some time with the Cath lab nurses. God, what a great job! A lot of patient and family interaction and education. When I did the ICU course at my hospital, we went there to learn sheath pulls. Those nurses are sooo good at that (obviously)! Really seemed like a very good place to work as well, lots of teamwork etc.

Hopefully you will get more responses from nurses who work there all the time. I would grab it if I were you!

They do alot of elective caths and PCI's. Some labs the nurse scrubs and assist the doc. GIving Meds, pulling sheaths it is very fast paced, and of course things can change in a heart beat. Being on call is usually a requirement with 20-30 minute response time, that means from the time you reiceve the page to getting in to the lab.

The only ER nurse I ever knew who went there came back within a year, compared to the ER there wasn't enough variety for her. All the other nurses I know in that lab came from ICU and Stepdown and loved it.
