can't find a job

by psaiden

Hi everybody,
I passed the nclex last january2007, and I am having a hard time finding a job as an RN here in California. They told me that experience in another country is not "counted". So basically they considered me as a new graduate.
Can someone help me..........Please give me some advise, pleasssssssssseeeeeee.
thanks a lot

What country did you get your experience in? Was it as an RN?

How many hospitals have you applied to? Are you getting the same reply at all hospitals?

Strange, I was out of nursing 9 years but they still counted the experoence I'd had, even though it was in a different country. Don't get disheartened, maybe brush up your resume and keep trying. Good luck.

Did you by any chance have this experience at Kaiser? I recall another nurse having that problem with Silicone Valley Kaiser facilities.

The NCLEX was a month ago. So how much experience do you have as an RN?

The other question is do you have the paperwork to legally work in the USA. As your experience is as you say from another country, are you a US citizen? Most non citizens that work here have to have sponsorship to work here. This can make it more difficult.
