Smile Best affordable Stethoscope?

Hi, I just got accepted to Nursing School this coming Fall. I'm VeRy Excited and am trying to get ready. Currently in search of a good stethoscope that works well and is affordable. Did a bit of research on the web, but still can't decide what would work best. Has anyone found any stethoscope that works well and isn't too expensive? I heard of Littmann II and Ultrascope (costs around 65-100+), wonder if the price range is average and good for the deal. Thanks for any advice.

I have a Littman Cardioscope. It IS good but find I can hear heart & lung sounds as well with an inexpensive Sprague- Rappaport type (double tubing) for about $20.00.

I've had two Littman's and they are definetely not worth the $$$.

I have a drum head scope from Thomas Medical that works great, but they have unsusual ear pieces, one of which is torn, and I can't find a replacement.

I love Littman stethoscopes. I didn't buy one until after nursing school (they are rather pricey) and I was amazed at the difference in the quality of sound with auscultation. I usually average about 6 years of use from one ... so yeah, I think it is well worth the money.

Littman scopes last very well, and almost every part can be replaced. That includes the tubing and ear pieces. If it's still under warranty (3 years) they'll do it for free!

I bought a Sprague for 14.99 from a uniform book, and it works very well for me. Like i'd said in a prior post, i don't have the cash flow for something expensive right now.

Using a Littman Cardio II right now. Ready to trade it in soon. Checking the web myself for various types.

Has anyone ever used a Wellington?
