Help! I have to write a 30 page research paper on ARDS! I can only use nursing journals 5 years old and I am having trouble finding sources. Any suggestions?

Did you try your school's internet journal access? ARDS is a fairly popular and often researched topic, so I would think there are many articles within 5 years old to use a sources. I am going to University of Phoenix for my Masters right now and they have online access to thousands of professional journals; it just takes time to research and gather useful data.

try respiratory journals. Go to your respiratory dpt. Ask a therapist to help you...I wish I could but dont know how I could this close in time. There is a magazine I get weekly on respiratory articles. Its called advance. Hope this will help. Look in your local hospital libraries or online if you can.

Maybe try Chest as well; you can get online access to their articles for free.

ARDS is known by other names too - Wet lung and Non-Cardiogenic Pulmonary Edema are 2.

Just wanted to add this link too - about halfway down the article talks about Cardiogenic and Non-Cardiogenic causes of pulmonary edema.

Dude, I wouldn't turn in a paper with references from wikipedia. Anyone can get on that site and post their opinion. Try using cinahl, pubmed, and medline to get your journal references. These sites will give you information that is recent and most of all credible, because the majority of the journal articles posted are peer reviewed.

I wasn;t suggesting that the OP do that at all - there are reference materials at the bottom of the wiki articles.

I've noticed that questions like this seem to pop up a lot here. I don't know if nursing school gives you any formal education on how to do a literature search, but here's a quick crib note to make it a little easier.

1) Go to www.pubmed.org
2) On the first page, click the tab labeled "Limits"
3) Type in your seach words
4) For general review articles (which is what most of these projects seem to need), click the box for "Nursing" under "Subsets", and "Review" under "Type of Article". You can also apply other limits (date, language, etc) as you so desire.
5) Click "Go" at the bottom of the page
