There is no age limit for transplant. Certain programs may put a hard or soft limit on age. There are kidney patients over 80 who have received kidneys. I am not sure about liver transplant or heart transplant. Each center will make a decision based on patient condition. There are very old 50 years olds and very young 70 year olds. Usually other co-morbid conditions are what prevent older patients from being transplant candidate.

I am a kidney transplant recipient x2 and at the transplant center I had my transplants at there's no age limit. Like core0 said, it's more about the condition of the patient.

Re: Any transplant nurses here?

When I worked with heart and lung transplant patients there was an age limit, but they kept increasing it. It was pretty much accepted that as the surgeons got older the age limit would increase
