allnurses.com suggestions from users

Hi everyone,

We are in the process of planning a site redesign and adding a few new features to the site. We value your input and I would love to hear some some suggestions of things that you would like to see on allnurses.com.

Please reply with your suggestions. Thanks

shopping...

You know what I want Brian...that darn tee shirt! Maybe a coffee mug...and don't forget the pens b/c they're really nice. So I guess you can say we need a shopping section.

Brian, it might make topics easier to find and help visually "clean up" the Off-Topic section if it was further divided into a few subcategories: Pop Culture (for music, movie, book and TV discussions), Home (food, home maintenance, etc.), Relationships (family, friends, spouses), Money & Finance, and Miscellaneous.

I don't know if there's enough interest in this, but if so, a separate category to organize get-togethers on a local (everybody in Detroit, let's meet for coffee) or national (who wants to meet in Vegas in the fall?) level would be nice, too.

Brian,
I know this will not be a popular response but I wanted to let you know....
I frequent Nursing Spectrum BB alot and the members there don't come here because it is too complicated. There are SO MANY forums to choose from! At least at NSBB it is all in front of you to pick and choose as you see fit. When you go to all nurses, there is so much to check every day, you just get overwhelmed!

I just click the "view new posts" in the upper right--it selects all the stuff I haven't read yet--but if you double/triple post, they all come up also.

I want more (or better) avatars. I would probably but a mug, also.

Another one of the girls talking here; I want shopping also! And as far as finding posts go, I think once you get used to the setup, difficulty is not an issue. Kind of like going from one facility to another; the same but different. Anyway, kudos for a great job so far!

I disagree with Bluebear. I don't think that allnurses.com is complicated at all. I for one wouldn't want all the topics under one forum. If I need IV information then I go to the intravenous therapy forum, etc.

I would like a shopping section too! Unless you don't wanna get too commercialized Brian.

This is THE BEST Nursing Discussion site on the web. Keep up the good work!

I have yet to see a pen or mug etc. Perhaps gifts for those who have reached a certain number of posts, or years posting.

Advertisements from scrub companies, nursing tools, or hospitals etc. would not be offensive to me, but pop ups would be just a PIA. Of course the lack of advertising is wonderful now, and advertising IN the actual posts would never be OK.

I'd like to have an "ignore thread" option at the bottom of each thread so it woouldn't come up again when I hit "read new posts"

More access to information for those on my buddy list, so I could give a better profile to them and less or none to the general user population.

Guest hosts in the chat room, and scheduled events there that give information, or for recreation.

When I click on polls I can't get back to my "read new posts" or even go back a few pages to read the post I was on before I gave a poll response. I have to strat all over again and have the whole list of new posts wiped out. I don't answer polls for that reason.

I'd like to see the who's online feature, and birthdays towards the top of the page so scrolling isn't necessary.

Thanks Brian for asking for input, I love having a voice in this great site. Makes it really OURS.

I do agree with Bluebear. Don't see a thing wrong with picking and choosing which titles are interesting to me.

I can't even FIND 'view new posts'. (Where is that?), nevermind find assorted topics. I know it takes practice, but there is a LOT on this board, I'm new and haven't had the time to play around.

Do like the posts and people here however (but sometimes it's a little like looking under the hood of a car, BUSY!)
