I think that management at my job totally sucks. What keeps me there (besides the contract I owe because they paid my way through school, my seniority, pension and benefits), is the fact that the nurses I work with are great! Even the ones that are a pain in the rear are lovable to me. We really hold each other up, and it is more important to me that THEY support and appreciate me than management.

Of, course, it is OUR fault. Why can't we see it this way (sarcastic grin)?

Re: All critism and no thanks

I'm 50/50 on this. A couple of the places I work at I feel underpaid and undervalued, but a couple of them I feel important and appreciated (still underpaid).
Nice places to work at do exist. Vote with your feet if you can and keep looking.
I wish everyone could have a job at a warm/fuzzy place.

i have seen a lot places like this
problem is that things get bad a little bit at a time until you hate to come to work
talk with immediate superiors if you get the plastic grin and 'we know that you are capable of doing this' find somewhere else to work
good luck

Re: All critism and no thanks

As i have learned one positve person can turn around a whole group of people. First you need to reward yourself ...you know when you have worked hard and have done a good job ...so think of little rewards ( a long bubble bath, a dress, you have been wanting a date, anything that floats your boat). Second, start to praise each other when a job is well done and work together as a group. Next come together as a group with managment and suggestions on ways to improve morale and decrease negativity. If you like the job it is worth trying to fix. For the last 27 years at the end of the shift I thank my co-workers for a job well done. When someone does a beatiful stick I say so right then. I sarted an IV the other day that noone could get in The anesthesiologist was leaning over me and after I got it he said Wow that was perfect thank you. Well let me tell you I will start an IV for him anytime!!!!!
