Advancement for ADN, BS, MS RN

Hi. My husband is almost finished completing his RN at a community college (ADN). He already has a BS in psychology and a Master's in Human Resources Management. We live in the Houston, TX area. I was wondering what kind of opportunities would be out there for eventual advancement into Nurse/Hospital Management after some years of RN experience, given his varied and rather unusual background?
Thanks!

I would say that his grad degree would offer him lots of administrative opportunities once he gets a little experience under his belt. Sounds like a powerful combination of credentials.

I might suggest he continue to get the BSN to go along with the masters he already has. Most facilities want at least a BSN for a person to get into any type of nursing management positions. But after attaining the BSN he could probly move along anyplace he wanted to.

Re: Advancement for ADN, BS, MS RN

I have a clinical BA and an MBA. I also have many years in a clinical setting outside of nursing and a business background. So my ambitions are similar to your husband. I plan to move into a health care administrative role as soon as possible.

I have no interest in getting a MSN or a doctorate in nursing. However, as the above poster has pointed out, a BSN along with my current degrees and work background is a powerful combination. So I am going the ADN then RN-BSN route.

I do not plan to take an academic break after my ADN. I plan to apply to a bridge program as early as my third semester in school. Good luck.
