ACLS AHA online cert & recert

In case anyone is interested, there is a new website that teaches ACLS with AHA's "Heart Code," designed for medical professionals. They have just been approved to offer this online. It includes an AHA course completion card when you pass.

I signed up to see what it's like. I'll let you know.

ACLS Online

I recertified earlier this year in this way. I think it's great for recerts...just be aware of how your facility educators feel about this. My educator was not thrilled and threatened to make me retake it at the facility...I talked her out of it tho.

Thumbs up Completed ACLS On-line Course

I promised to let you know how the ACLS On-line course was.

It was great! I passed. It was more comprehensive than a traditional course and I feel as though I learned it much better than in a regular course. It's interactive with actors. When you decide what step to take next like start O2, you decide how many liters and NC, mask, etc. The same with drug dosages. You learn to intubate in detail and watch it being done. Then it will show up on the face of the actor you are watching. It's very detailed and the megacode changes randomly. You have 32 hours to complete the whole course. I had 9 hours left after completing all the evaluations, megacode, & written exam. Then you keep the software and continue learning from it. Strip recognition was most difficult for me. There are so many variations of each rhythm in different leads it took a lot of practice. It was well worth the money! There is so much you can learn from this program, it's amazing. I put a link to it on my website. Click on CPR Associates to get info from them. I would have had to wait until January for an available class in Las Vegas. They were all booked up. You can take the entire course or recertify. You get an AHA Provider card when you've completed it.

If you decide to take the course, please tell them you heard about it from Nurse Nevada. They pay a small referral fee.

Cool ACLS & AHA

Hi, I received this from CPR Associates regarding AHA approval:

The AHA’s position on web-based Training is, and I quote, “The American Heart Association has not authorized any totally web-based training program to issue American Heart Association cards.”

CPR Associate's ACLS program, however, is not web-based. It is a client/server computer program. A student must install the client program And database driver and use his/her Internet connection to access our server which feeds the client the course information and the random questions, static strips, tracks the students progress and scores the tests and simulations. This is the ONLY computer based ACLS training course that IS AHA approved and successful students will receive an AHA ACLS card.

Hope this answers some questions for you.

Received my AHA ACLS card

I took CPR Associate's ACLS course, passed and received my AHA card in the mail. It is legitimate and worked out great. What's really nice is I have the program software to refer to and learn from any time I want to refresh.

Here is the link:
CPR Associates, ACLS Course Link

If you decide to take the course, please put my referral code in the application. It is: DM 11/03

I get $25.00 for any referrals. You can also make money by referring others. Just call them and they will give you a code.

One question...................................how do you defibrillate on-line? I started taking ACLS when it was the second time offered in the whole state of Michigan and have been certified since the dark ages. Whenever I go to recertify, I always see people there that are petrified of the defibrillator and really need to be talked through this. How would it work in this case?

Re: ACLS AHA online cert & recert

Hey Nurse Nevada,

I went to the CPR Associate website: www.cprassociate.com and what came up was a list with links to various organizations that offer ACLS online. Can you give me the specific link or web address to the one you took that issues the AHA card. I copied and pasted the page that shows up when I go to the above website. Is this the same thing that you saw? There are many choices but I couldn't find the one that lets you do everything online and then issues the AHA cert card, which is what I want. Thanks.
