Question 2nd Career Change as a Couple?

Hi everyone,
My wife and I are planning a mid-life career change. Something more meaningful, etc, etc. We both have bachelor degrees in non-nursing disciplines and we've applied to several nursing programs for Fall '04 admission( 2 ADN, 2 BSN just to cover our bets). We're using the interim to complete our prereqs. at a local community college. Our goals are to work as travel nurses for a few years.
I guess we're looking for feedback, ideas, validation or ??
Thanks very much, we've already learned a lot from reading the posts.

I'm also a second-degree, second-career student who sought greater fulfillment. I'm envious! I wish that my husband would enter this field, so that we could work as travel nurses together. I've heard of couples doing this, and it sounds wonderful.

In my class, we had 2 sets of sisters & one set of brother/sister. It obviously helped with studying for tests. Nursing is such a surreal experience, I believe that to have another person to "blow off steam" with (or share emotionally difficult events) is a tremendous advantage. Even though you already have a degree, don't expect this to be easy -- it's very different than your typical college experience. It affects you on every level of your being.

Good luck, and great plan!

2nd career

wow, wish my hubby would even consider being on the same page in my book of life, but that's a whole other thread. Opt for the BSN plan, & travel together! That is so cool. I know several couple who do this & are such good supports for each other, both in different specialties so not too much time together. let us know how it goes!

Thumbs up

That is way cool. I've been trying to get my huzzy to become a nurse we both love to travel & hate having to come back home after only just a couple of days away. Good luck to you both.

It is cool. We had a guy in our accelerated program who graduated in Dec. so they could do exactly what you two plan.
