Any LPNs doing clinical research? Is it a bad idea to graduate and go directly into it? Why kind of job responsibilities do LPNs generally have. Any help would be appreciated.

Most of the research jobs in nursing involve more extended education than LPN. Not knocking LPNs, believe me! I LOVE YA'LL! I've learned more from them than other RNs on the floors, believe me!
But all the research jobs in my area (with huge, metro teaching hospitals and med schools attached) require a BSN at least.
Sorry. Hope this helps in some way. There's always the exception. You might could be useful in helping an associate gather some data for the research. Call a university of medicine/teaching hospital and/or go online and inquire thru human resources or they could maybe point you in the correct direction insofar as finding out the information you seek. I googled my state for Reasearch jobs and was surpprised to see all the facilities,and some were looking for assistants to help the CRA/CRC. Hope this helps.

I am in the Dallas-Fort Worth metro area of Texas. The son of one of my former patients is an LVN, and he works as the clinical research coordinator of a major health science center in the area. So, yes, there are some LVNs/LPNs employed in the research arena.

I totally agree with you Commuter, to me it just seems like having to find the right doc who takes on the investigater ( sp)? roles. I worked and loved all of the studies I was involved in as an LPN, and was 3rd highest enroller in the nation for one. Glad to hear that there are diligent LPN's still in research.
