Job of an INFUSION RESEARCH RN???

Hi, Just wondering if someone could tell me -- what a RN in a research oncology infusion position may do. It is located in a hospital---when there is down time--I would be helping staff rns give chemo to patienst. I will be going for an interview, and would just like to get some ideas. Thanks a bunch

Re: Job of an INFUSION RESEARCH RN???

If it's like a facility I visited once, the nursing role would be similar to that in any other outpatient chemotherapy infusion clinic except that the drugs being infused are still in the clinical trial phase and the protocols would vary depending on which trial the patient were part of.

If the job role goes beyond just being an infusion nurse, to more of a "research coordinator" nurse, then the role might also include reviewing the research subject consent forms with the patients, coordinating each patient encounter with the facility, and perhaps more.
