Anyone? Studies on using ice for ISR

I am looking for any research or studies past/present that study using ice prior to and following SQ injections to control injection site reaction (ISR). I have a history of emergency nursing where we would frequently use ice to minimize swelling/bruising 24 hrs post injury, but if your wanting medication to disburse in the SQ tissue...it seems icing would slow this process. HELP! if you can.

Thanks

Re: Anyone? Studies on using ice for ISR

The only article I can find is

Ross S, Soltes D. Heparin and haematoma: Does ice make a difference. Journal of Advanced Nursing 1995; 21(3): 434-439.

This isn't exactly what you are looking for but may contain some basic anatomical information.

I can't find anything about ice and injection site reaction.
