wherever you go...don't forget who you are...

There's a new nurse at the local hospital, and one day he told a patient, "You know we're the #1 nurses in the world." The patient said, "Are you filipino, like the other nice nurses here?"

And he replied (despite his tan complexion, flat nose, and distinctive filipino accent), "No, I'm canadian." He was from canada, but he only worked there for quite some years...

One of his co-workers muttered to another, "stop me! I'm gonna strangle him
tsk tsk tsk... Nurses, just because we're (or we'll be) earning foreign and breathing foreign air, it doesn't mean we're to abandon who we really are...

I'm proud to be a Filipino Nurse!!!!

How about you? are you proud? or are you embarrased of you you are....like this dude over here? if yes, for shame!!!

Re: wherever you go...don't forget who you are...

I am UK born and bed and proud of it but I do plan on taking my citizenship 5 years after getting to the USA and then will call myself dual citizen. But I don't think there is any #1 as we all nurse patients just that one country may do things different to another but it is a good melting pot and with the internet these days is a good way to swap ideas which in turns makes us all good nurses and all #1

Maybe he was born in Canada? I don't use the term African-American anymore for patients because where I live we have many black people from Africa, Caribean, West Indies, Canada. When I was in retail I had a black customer who took offence at being called African-American, because he was born and raised in Canada. He would come to the men's dept. where I worked when he was in town...every few months, and I would help him with styles. Poor guy was an engineer and had no fashion sense.

Nursing does not pay attention to race, gender, or anything else. No one is better than another. Anyone can be proud to be a nurse, where they are from has no bearing on anything.
