Red face What does I140 Approval...

What does it mean exactly when I140 was approved or re-affirmed? Does it mean that my file has been reviewed already and that Im eligible for Immigrant visa, only that there is no current visa number available?

I really have no idea what stage of the process I am now. Anybody who can tell me approximately how many percent of the processing was already accomplished? Thankiezzz!

you are at the very beginning of the process. My understanding is I140 shows that you are qualified for the job and that the hospital has done what is necessary to find someone locally for the job and that they are able to pay you the same wage as a US RN.

Once you have approval that is when you are hit with retrogression and now join the queue for patience and perciverience whilst waiting for visas to be allocated. Your file once approved is moved to the NVC centre and they will process further once visas are available.

Suggest a really good read through the many thread especially on retrogression and things should be a little bit clearer for you

Hope this helps

National Visa Centre which is where all doc are requested, checked and OK'd once visas are moving and before you get your interview and you have paid the fee (again once requested)

Re: What does I140 Approval...

When there are visas available, once you get approval of the I-140, which is really approval of the actual job; then a bill is sent out, that needs to be paid -- usually by your employer, and then, immigration will send out the DS-230 which is all about you. Everything that they ever needed to know about you will be listed there and then submitted.

You need to get approval on that petition before you will be scheduled for an interview and your medical exams.

The I-140 is just the first step in the process and is not under the retrogression. Now you are affected by it.

gee...if it takes more than a year and a half to reach and stay on the first step alone...I bet I might reach the last step in say, 2-3 years more...Argh! Nearly half a decade all in all.
(NCLEX exam, CGFNS, IELTS processing and preparation times excluded)

It is possible if there is no retrogression and presuming that the immigration lawyer handling your file did everything perfectly and submitted everything on time.

we are all affected by retrogression at the moment and that is what is causing delays, normal processing time for the category we are in E3 is on average 3-5 years but up to retrogression nurses were expediated. Demand for visas to the US are higher than allocation and also the expediation of nurses due to high visa demand especially from a few countries has also affected the process. Prior retrogression visas were allocated within 12-24 months but not now
