Re: Visa Screen Certificate / CGFNS

There is no speedy way to work in the US. Retrogression has been ongoing since Oct 2006 and there are no visas for nurses currently

Desperately, I Am In Work Study Scholarship Program Fully Funded, I Will Work 20 Hours A Week At 20 Dollars Per Hour. Will It Be Ok To Have 1,600 Dollars A Month In Texas, Usa. Will I Live A Decent Life With That. Please Enlighten Me On This. Thank You And More Power.
That amount of money is considered poverty level by many. You are also forgetting that taxes get taken out of that. You definitely are not going to be living decently. Far from that.

And what do you plan to do when you complete this study program? There still are no visas available, and the student visa will run out.

There are no speedy ways to get to the US, really never have been either. But most definitely not now. And experience of less than a year is going to make it hard to find any employer as a start, does not matter what the program is promising, they do not have any input on the jobs that will be offered. Chances are that it will be in a nursing home or a border town where you will have too many patients to care for properly and then have the best chance of losing a license. And if that happens, you can kiss your IS career good-bye.

The only ones that come out ahead with this type of programs are the schools and the recruiters. Not the nurse. And no matter what they promise, you do not begin to work immediately, it is months before you are given approval by the US government to work. The student visa does not permit one to work immediately; this is something else that the students are not informed of either.

Re: Visa Screen Certificate / CGFNS

Thank you very much Suzanne for that enlightenment. What do you think is the best thing I will do as of the moment. A little idea of foregoing my American dreams really sucks. But one has to face the reality. Do you think its a good idea if Ill give up my American dream and instead go to New Zealand where visa processing will only take 6-12 months. NCLEX was really an effort to me and with the things that are going on, it seems that the effort is becoming a waste. Please help me Suzanne, I really dont know what to do anymore. Thank you.

Re: Visa Screen Certificate / CGFNS

hi..i just want to have a clarification about a question in the application form..16c, the month and day that i should write down for the NCLEX-RN is the date i sat the exams which was august 30, 2007 or should it be the date written on the passing letter they sent me which was september 14, 2007?

the state and country: is it the place where i took it (in my case, it's in makati, philippines)? or the state where i applied in (California)?

and lastly, i should tick NO for the question asking whether passing of the exam led to the issuance of a license, right? since technically, i'm not licensed yet coz i don't have a SSN.

My questions seem so lame, .. but i really want to get this right..so any help would be appreciated..thanks!

Re: Visa Screen Certificate / CGFNS

i have a question miss suzanne, what if ill file for a reciprocity to other state where my license wont expire provided of course that i find an employer. do you think its a good idea or still futile? On the other hand, i have also an employer from dearborn county hospital, indiana, is it a good idea that i will proceed with my employment there so that the immigration processing will move on and for the meantime while retrogression is not lifted yet i will try my luck in new zealand? please help me. thank you.

Hello Suzanne, hello Everyone.
I'm a male nurse. I'm 39 years Old.I'm father for four Children. I worked as a male nurse since 1989; So the experience is 18 years in the field. The training of nursing take 3 years (36 months) in my country. My speciality as male nurse is :"Intensif and general care". I want to live and to work in USA. What you can advise me? Am I able to work in the States? Is my diploma recognized ?
I hope that my questions will find answers
Thanks a lot and God Bless you

Only NCLEX results have reciprocity. When moving states you have to either complete license by examination and ask state to forward your NCLEX results if no license is issued or endorse if you have a license. Regardless you usually still have to meet their requirements for foreign trained.

Usually your training would be accepted but the only way to know for definite is apply to a state and go through their process of application for foreign nurse and meet their requirements. A good starting point would be the sticky titled Primer to working in the USA. Be aware that the US has retrogression and you will have a long wait in front of you however if it is your determination then set yourself goals to work towards.
