Sorry if this has been posted before (can't find it anywhere).
Is it possible to open a Bank Account in the U.S. from the U.K. to transfer some money over before travel???

Hi!
Yes it is possible. Im with HSBC and because theyve got branches in the US, I managed to open a current (called a checking) account at a branch closest to where I hope to be from here.

Opening international accounts are dealt with at their international HQ in London, so if you decide to enquire, its likely you will need to ask to be referred on to them as its not usually dealt with at local level and they probably wont know much about it- just a little tip which may save you some time!

Not sure about other banks.....
