I am about to apply for my ATT in Vermont and then afterwards after writing NCLEX plan to transfer my licence to California, do i have to always pay licence fee to Vermont and California for the rest of my days, or just the state i live in. Will Vermont kick up a fuss if i do it this way as i have no intension of living in Vermont.

hello, i am also an original licensee of vermont. i just completed the process of endorsing my license to california and i experience no problem with vermont in terms of license verification... for your info also, i just passed nclex last august 13. my brother told me that i dont need to pay anymore vermont for the renewal since i dont intend to practice nursing there... i just dont know if that is accurate information though... thanks

Please take the time to do some reading. You do not transfer a license, you can only endorse it, meaning that you will have the original one until it expires. If you do not renew it when it is due, then it will no longer be active for you.

Simple as that.

You can pay either just the state you want to pay or all the states you hold. A lot would depend on you and your requirments/plans once living in the US

I tried to search for answers before i posted the thread but didn't come up with much.
I downloaded the application form for Vermont and i noticed that it asks for your social security no and says that it is manditory also asks if you are willing to pay tax in vermont. My husband is in California now and i am awaiting my visa, he feels uncomfortable about me applying to Vermont and is worried that i'm doing something dodgy.
California says that you'll get a fine of $1000 if you don't put down your SS no.

If you do not have a SSN, then you do not list it, and CA will not issue you a license until you give them one.

Vermont just wants to know that if you are going to live there, that you will pay your taxes to them. If you sre not going to live there, then you will not owe them any taxes.

Thanks Suzanne , i just don't want to be breaking any laws.

Is it a good idea to work as a care assistant while i'm waiting to sit the NCLEX, i'll need to do something while i'm waiting. I'll get my ss no a few days or weeks after entering the country.
