Hi and welcome to the site

Would suggest plenty of reading on here as there are plenty of info about working in the US would suggest starting with the sticky Primer to working in the US and you do not need at present to take local board if you are looking to working in the US.

At the moment it will be very hard for you to get a work permit for working in the UK and you will have to jump through a lot of hoops with the NMC (UK nusing governing body) before you get a licence to work as a RN but this will not guarantee a job or work permit. For the UK you may need local license but this is something you will have to check out with them. www.nmc-uk.org For immigration to either US or UK your training must be RN and there are no temp work permits. You need to decide on where you want to live, US will be easier as I said very hard now to get a work permit for the UK plus the job situation in the UK is going through some difficulties

To Anna, Thank you for the info. Do you known which state in US doesn't need a local board? so that i can arrange my papers and plan for my next move. I was thinking that taking a board exam in P.I. is useless considering the scandal that happend last year. It might affect the quality trained of filipino nurses in applying abroad.

you really need to decide on where you want to live, I believe at the moment none of the states require local board. Would suggest reading some of the threads in the Phillipine forum as there have been a few discussions regarding last year and what may happen in the future although is speculation.

It is suggested not to use CA for initial licensure but plenty of reading to be done to help you decide on what you want todo, The sticky Primer is a good start

Most states do not require a local license. The issue is where you want to work, not where it is not required. Be aware that it is going to take you some time to get thru the licensure process and then the immigration process before you will be able to work in the US.

And right now, the UK is not licensing any foreign nurses, nor granting visas for them to work as nurses there right now. The only ones that are getting a license are those that have experience that they need in some of the specialties.

As a new grad, no license in the UK. They are having too many lay-offs of their own nurses right now.

Definitely read the Primer at the top of this forum. And remember that you cannot even begin the process for licensure until you actually have a completed set of trasnscripts.

HI TIA,
As for my experienced, ok you are a nursing student and will be graduating in OCT.did you not consider first in serving our own country and get your RN local booard? IN THE Uk they will still need your local license in applying to the NMC FORMERLY UKCC.I had my registration in UK and they ask for my local license.Tia,some countries still have high respect to FILIPINO NURSES! I remember my Medical Director in Libya once told me that Filipinos Are One Of the Best Nurses In the Whole World! Think about that!

Right now, the UK is not even granting licenses to those that are not from the EU or have significant experience that they need. And therefore no visa to work there.
