God Bless State Board of New York,

I'm Jhoanna Navarro Yusup, a registered nurse in the Philippines. I already passed the IELTS examination last May 10, 2008. I want to take the New York NCLEX examination and I would like to ask you for some informations regarding the application process as well as the requirements for the NCLEX examination. I hope you would acknowledge my request. Thank you and more power.

NY has their own assessment with CGFNS called CVS and you need to go through that, the process takes approx 6-12 months before you reach eligibility to sit NCLEX. All information regarding licensure to be a RN in NY can be found here NY BONAre you planning on working in NY as we have seen many post that they have found it hard to find a petitioner in NY even those that did their training in the US and need petitioning to stay? If not then would recommend that you look at another state because you will have to meet their requirements when endorsing which will involve more money as many states require CES from CGFNS or another recognised assessment center. Also with retrogression you are looking at severl years before moving to the US with a valid work visa due to the high demand.

Just to add you are applying to be a RN in the US not applying for NCLEX. NCLEX is just a part of the application process.

I strongly suggest a good read in this forum, welcome and good luck

Re: STATE BOARD OF NEW YORK Re: How to start the licensure application?

i am applying for a license in New York to be a RN. The thing is the people @ the post office over here are practicing their hocus-pocus-mumbo-jumbo antiques once again and my eligibility letter got caught in the crossfire . the only reason i found out that i am eligible to take the exam is because i e-mail NYSED and they said i can already contact pearsonvue. still, can someone let me know if there are any important information on the eligibility letter that i should be mindful of?

Usually they are 12 months but each state will have their own, suggest emailing them again and asking

Re: STATE BOARD OF NEW YORK Re: How to start the licensure application?

Hi. I'm new here and I have the same dilemma with laochinti.
I just pass the June2008 local board in the Philippines. I have plans of taking the New york board but while I was reading the requirements I got confused with the child abuse and infectious course. Am I not exempted from taking the course since I haven't work yet in a hospital here?
New York is my destination since my sister lives there.
Thank you.

Karina

The course has to be done as part of the application, is done on-line and not that expensive. We haven't seen many NY hospitals offering petition for foreign nurses so may want to re think your plan. We have seen people posting that they have struggled to find employers in NY that have OPT and had to move out of state to use it. They trained in NY but were international students. If they are struggling then you definitely will
