SSN for Illinois NCLEX???

Hi everyone! I'm new here so I apologize if what I'm about to ask has already been posted before. I just want to know if a SSN is required to be able to take the NCLEX exam for Illinois state. I do not have a SSN so will they still process my request to take the examination? Thanks in advance!

Re: SSN for Illinois NCLEX???

they wont give you your license until you provide the SSN to them... you can sit for the exam though you dont have one.. if you're applying online www.continentaltesting.net you should write 99999999 on the space provided since you dont have the SSN. But if you are going to pass a written application, just leave it blank..

Re: SSN for Illinois NCLEX???

i'm planning to apply for an Illinois license. i just passed the controversial june 2006 board exam. since i think my prc license would take a while to be released, can i submit my application with the record of licensure to follow? in the IDFPR application checklist, it is specifically stated that "in order for the application to be processed, all required supporting documentation must be submitted." i heard applicants did it with their california nclex application. do you think i can do the same thing with my illinois application?

i would appreciate any help coz i'm a bit confused where and when to start with my application.

thanks for the info and congratulations on your passing the nclex lately.

i heard from another that IL BON (or IDFPR) will issue the license (even if there's no SSN) but will require the SSN when the time for first renewal of license comes. she got this thru email from IDFPR this year. you might be interested to know this info. when you receive your IL license (without SSN) or an email from IDFPR about this issue, i hope you can share the info here.

thanks kiko...it's been 6 weeks from now since i took the exam...but i havent recieve my result in mail yet... i dont know if IL give the license though one doesnt provide the ssn..

yeah i also read from somewhere that they need the SSN when your going to renew your license...

* If you have a Social Security Number (SSN) you must provide it; however, if you do not, you can submit your
initial application without it but must be able to provide the SSN by first renewal of the license.

i'll share the info when the mail arrives..hope it will be soon..

I just finished first year and I don't know what I will do next year since I don't have SSN ( I have TAX ID number) . I just want to know if a SSN is required to be able to take the NCLEX exam for Illinois state. I do not have a SSN so will they still process my request to take the examination? Will hospitals hire me without SSN? Thanks in advance! Please any information will be helpfull.

Re: SSN for Illinois NCLEX???

No state in the US requires the SSN# to sit for an exam, however there are many states that will not issue a license without having the SSN#.

Not sure what type of visa that you are on, but if you do not qualify for the OPT when you finish, you will not be able to remain in the US. Also not sure what type of program that you are currently in. If the two year ADN, the only visa that would be available for you to even consider is the green card and we are currently under a retrogression at this time which means that there is going to be considerable wait for a chance at a visa and you will not be able to remain in the US to wait and work if you do not have the OPT when you are done.

Please take the time to do some reading on this forum for more information that you truly need to be aware of at this time.
