hi there!
i am currently registered in california, i passed nclex this year. I am confused about the SSN issue. Within 3 years i have to have an SSN. How can i get it? I should have an employer right? to be given an SSN means you're employed(or going to be employed?)

Lastly, can i transfer to (for example) Florida, or New Jersey from california,without an SSN? Coz what i understand about this is that, if i'm registered in Caifornia, i can't leave California unless i have an SSN, and if i don't have an employer or a job i can't obtain an SSN, and without SSN i can't get my license. You are not a registered nurse in CA as you have not provided them with a SSN#. You only have a letter stating that you have passed the NCLEX exam. Please do not get the two mixed up as you cannot endorse what you have to another state, as there is no license number to endorse.

SSN# are national, and once you get it, it will be with you forever. You have to be in the US and that means that you have gone thru the immigration process and have documents that state that you may legally work in the US.

If you wish to work in another state, you will need to go thru the License by Examination process and have CA submit your passing of the NCLEX to the new state. You never have to put a foot in CA. But you also will need to go thru the CES process from CGFNS for both of those states, and that is for initial licensure, or endorsing. They will not do a thing with your application until you get thru that.
