hello there,
i am a foreign graduated have my ATT for RN after failing 3 times,and applied for LVN at the board and recieved my elegibility!
NOW,i am confused and need help and,or suggestions,please.......
can i go for both of them???
is it enough if i study for RN and take the exam for LVN too???bcause in case i fail again my RN then hopfully i'll pass LVN,so please help me out

If would focus on going for the RN exam, if you trained out of the US, you will be having to learn a completely diffferent set of rules as well as material that you will need to know for your exam.

Not sure how long ago that you graduated, or where you graduated from; but would suggest that you take the time and prepare properly for the RN exam. What exactly did you use in the past? Did you prepare for a significant length of time with the meds as well as lab results that we use in this country?

There is much that you can find on the NCLEX forum about what to do to prepare.

(p.s. also be aware that the PN exam is not handled by the BRN and it requires a completely different application as well as submission of documents again, etc. By the time that you could get that done and get approval, you could have passed the RN exam.)

i graduated in germany in 2003.and used here kaplan and other seminars for the RN prep.but failed 3 times.i have allready the eligibility for LVN too,just have to register for the exam.rightnow i have the Saunder book 3rd eddition,and would start all over again.so my Question is if it would be enough to use saunders for both RN/LVN,because in case i fail RN again i hope not to fail lvn.....

Why not consider Suzanne's plan. All information can be found in the NCLEX forum in the sticky called 2008 version of Suzanne's plan. She has great success rate with it and must be followed exactly as written but also depends on whether you have set a date or not. Using RN for LPN book I would think is not appropriate as LPN have different responsibilities to the RN and the RN book will not always tell you them.

Preparation for the PN exam is quite different from that of the RN exam, and if you have not worked with people in that role, then you will have issues just the same with passing that exam.

If you are going to need to prepare for an exam, it makes more sense to focus just on one exam, you cannot prepare for both at the same time.

The one book for the RN exam does not work for the PN exam, material is quite different that you are expected to know on the PN exam.

Again, I would focus on the RN exam. You can get thru it.

And as Anna mentioned above, please check out the NCLEX Forum that we have here, as well as the first tip of my program that is there. And it was originally designed for foreign trained nurses that did not have English as their primary language.
