Re: Questions for Suzanne4

Suzanne4,

Hi,
I am the person who asked about finding a job in Wisconsin after moving from Texas.
I really appreciate your kind advice.
Actually it gave me some hopes.
Today I had an interview at a small hospital.
They said that they would give me a final offer after doing background and reference checks.
So I told them that currently I had an OPT but needed the sponsorship for the green card.
However, they had never had the case like this.
Thus I would like to show some materials needed for processing the sponsorship.
If you have some information about those materials or a good immigration attorney, would you please let me know them?
Thank you very much.

CES and make-up courses

Hi Suzanne
I have just graduated as a RN in South Africa, having done the bridging course. I am applying to Texas, and have to do the CES thru CGFNS. I am currently doing make-up courses and clinical hours in psych and midwifery, on my days off, and should finish these in August.
Should I apply now for CES, and not mention the make-up courses?
I'm sure a lot of RN's don't even know they require the make-up courses, until their credentials have been evaluated.
I was thinking that they could in the meantime verify my enrolled nurse course and license, RN course and license, which takes about 3 to 4 months.

CGFNS would then say I require make-up hours. By that time, I would have completed the make-up hours.

Would I need to do a second CES when I submit the make-up hours or will it be part of the first CES?
Or would you advise to only submit CES once I have done all make-up hours?
Many Thanks
Meloniez

Re: Questions for Suzanne4

Hi Suzanne! I want to ask you when exactly I will receive the actual license number in NYBON – after I will pass NCLEX or after I will pass NCLEX+2 online courses which are required by the Board? I actually want to endorse the license to IL so when exactly I can do it?
THANK YOU!!

The hospital contract is for 2 years and I will be paid what they called Prevailing wage, they will pay me in accordance with my 6 yearts nursing experience also. There is no crappy hours no money taken off my wages etc.

Part of me is keen in that I am concerned if I go through all the process and get my nclex I may struggle to find work. Also this company said if I find an employer direct I will have to pay my own immigration process and lawyer which can be hugely expensive.

what do you think? Do you think once I am licienced I will struggle to find my own employer to pertition for me, and really how much is it roughly going to cost? I have added up for moving, airfares, nclex, cgfns, paperwork, transcripts etc but never thought about the immigration costs.

I know you were the right person to contact about this.

For NJ, you will need to take the CGFNS exam as well. There is no way around that. And who is going to be paying all of the fees for you? The attorney's fee is about $2000. The cost of the visa is about $750 for you.

And to say "prevailing wage", that means nothing. You need to know in writing, who is paying their fee exactly, and what they are expecting to come from you. Something is fishy; if they are paying all of that, it just means that they are taking the bonus that the facility would be giving you to cover the same expenses.

And you have not even taken the courses that you need to take, or the exams. You are talking more than one year down the road plus, especially since you will need the CGFNS exam, which involves completely different prep than for the NCLEX exam. All documents need to be in to them at least 90 days before the exam, and then it is two months before you will get documentation of passing that can be sent to NJ. You are jumping way too far ahead then you need to at this point.

It was stated there that I have to agree to work any shift, including nights, holidays, weekends as requested, is that normal for an agency to do with nurses? Also, for the first year of employment, I will not get a vacation leave. The good thing about this agency is that they will spend for all the legal fees, the exams, trip to international testing site for NCLEX and oneway airfare to the US, and the recruiter told me that they will file my case immediately upon recieving the necessary documents for filing the petition. By the way, I am not so concerned with the salary even if starting pay would only be $26/hr for NY area as I have seen the salaries quoted in this site www.flcdatacenter.com for NY, so the agency is within reasonable limits. I would like to send you a copy of the contract so you can review it..i need your help on this matter. Thanks.
Why are they reputable? On whose word? And you need to coincern yourself with the salary, cost of livi ngis quite high there. You are going over with a green card, not as an illegal alien. And sorry, but until porven to me otherwise, there is not one agency that I would recommend for there. Two many issues have come up here latelyd, just do a search. Several ar even being investigated currently.

And yes, you can send me the contract to look at.

Florida requires the CES, so yes, you will need to go thru that procedure.

You will need to complete the CES, even though you did the CVS for NY, it is not the same thing. When you pass the NCLEX exam, they will issue you the license. And pass the TOEFL exam, Ollinois requires both and no exceptions if you are a new nurse to the US.

i've a question about simultaneous filing of the I-140 and the 485 (the AOS) and the 765 (EAD), the USCIS guidelines state that they allow this only if there is a visa number immediately available. At this time while the last few of the 50 thousand Schedule A visas are running out, the EAD and the subsequent legal stay is issued in about 2and a half months right? What happens when retrogression kicks in? That means no visa numbers immediately available (E3 Category). Does that mean nobody can file for simultaneous EAD's anymore? And does that mean one can't stay legally in the US anymore pending the I-140's approval?

Also, how long do they give you after filing the I 140 to send them your VSC? I mean how long do they wait until they deny you if you dont send them the VSC?
The EAD is not issued in about 2 1/2 months, you need first to be in the US for almost 90 days before attorneys are even submitting petitions in most cases. Then it takes about another two months on average, so you are looking at about five months for the process, and maybe even longer.

There are some new bills in Congress to allow no caps until 2012.

CES is only a credentials eval, it is not the Visa Screen Certificate. It only is concerned with coarse work, nothing more. I would wait until you have the hours completed, less confusion for everyone. It will not speed things up by any means to try and do it earlier.
