Re: Questions for Suzanne4

Did you track the envelope to see if it ever reached the BON? That is a reason that one uses a courier service. If something reaches them , then it is processed within two weeks; it never takes this long.

CA is also now requiring the local license, not sure if you ever wrote the NLE. Also CA is never recommended for initial licensure for the foreign nurse for many reasons, would recommend that you go thru another state at this time.

Re: Questions for Suzanne4

Thank you so much for the reply. I was not able to track the package as it was the school who kept the receipts and i never really bothered since i thought that this would not happen. I did take [and pass] the NLE in December 2007 and the Cali BON did ask me in the email to fax a copy of my certificate of registration and license to them. But I was told by PRC that they will be issuing the certificates and the licenses sometime in August which will be about the same time the Cali BON's deadline for me to complete my application. So, I think I shall be abandoning my Cali application now that I know that they are requiring people to have their local licenses and just wait for the issuance of my license until I apply for NCLEX. One final question, though, which state BON do you recommend should I apply to for initial licensure? Thanks, again.

Re: Questions for Suzanne4

Hi Suzanne, I've been a nurse in my country and I came to the U.S and for 18 years I've been working as a CNA, never as a licensed nurse. Now I decided to challenge NCLEX. Please tell me what to do.

You can't challenge the NCLEX, You apply for licensure as RN to the state you are working in and follow instructions for foreign trained nurse. Suggest you read the sticky called Primer to working in the USA. I take it you have a valid work visa?

Re: Questions for Suzanne4

Hi Suzanne. I have a question regarding my CGFNS VisaScreen application. Sometime in February 2008, I visited the CGFNS web to purchase the Visascreen application. I was assigned a CGFNS order # appearing on the Request for Academic Evaluation forms. I had my two schools fill it up which is ready to be sent to CGFNS. It was only today when I realized that I was assigned a new CGFNS order #. Now, I am about to accomplish all the requirement for the Visascren application but am concerned that I was assigned a new CGFNS order #. Everytime I log in online to cgfns, my old CGFNS order # never appears. Will the discrepancy matter?

I hope you can enlighten me on this.

Re: Questions for Suzanne4

Yes, it does matter as the items that are sent in will not go to the correct account.
You need to contact them, and this is another reason why I always recommend not using the on-line registration. Things like this can happen and then it is your responsibility to get one of the accounts closed, or you will be responsible for both.

Re: Questions for Suzanne4

Hi, Suzanne. Thanks for the immediate response. I never thought having assigned two different CGFNS order numbers could cause problems. I thought what matters is the CGFNS ID # that will be assigned to me after all I have accomplished all the requirements and have paid in full. Pls enlighten me on this. I'm getting upset because I would have to go through with having my schools process it again.

That is not the case at all, and can get you into trouble with them. When you receive an account number from them, it means that you have an application pending with them, or that you are in the process of ordering something. That means that they are expecting payment for something if you look at it from that angle and they can charge your account for payment.

You always need to contact them to cancel out the other account, or you could see a bill issued when you least expect it.
