If you are asking my opinion, stay away from the agencies, especially in your case, where you only need to take and pass the NCLEX-RN exam and get a Visa Screen Certificate. What is the agency going to do for you? You can get a TN Visa at the border, if you wish, or can apply for a green card, once you pass the NCLEX exam, and have a hospital to petition you.
You are making it much harder than it is. You only have one exam, and one application to mail into CGFNS for the Visa Screen Certificate. Nothing else to do.
It is your choice, but there is no way that I would recommend that you sing on with an agency, unless you really want to give them $5 for each hour that you work, and that is what the going rate is.

Does she need to file the endorsement while we are still here in Philippines? Thanks, I'll look forward for your reply.
She can file for the endorsement while she is in the Philippines and get everything doen with, then as soon as she gets to the UD, she will get a SSN# in about one week, and can get her CA license right away. CA will issue her a temporary license as well, if she needs it. Definitely get the paperwork out of the way.

Dear Suzanne,I am here again. As there is a lot of paper work involved in getting visa for US.I feel it is easy to get thru an agency. If i write NCLEX exam and pass it ,i am required to be present in US with in 90 days of passing exam[?] and to get visa it takes minimum 12 months. I am now looking for a good agency, one reputed agency offered two years contract with $15,000/-bond money which has branch in India.other agency which is US based offered two years contract with $25,000/-bond money.most of the agency offers no salary deductaion but $15 /hour to $25/hr wages [depending on exp. and are etc.]-what to do?

Hi, Suzanne and everyone,
Suzanne, I have read your posts and really appreciate for your kind and sincere explanation.
I graduated in May with ADN degree in Texas and moved to Madison, Wisconsin last week. I currently have an OPT, which starts from June 1st.
I have been finding jobs in Madison area while waiting to take NCLEX, but I have been unsuccssful in finding jobs because there are few job openings for new graduates and I was not good at interviewing.
So, I am thinking to find a job in Milwaukee area.
Here are some questions I would like to ask.
1) Is it not a good idea to find a job before passing the NCLEX?
2) Do I have to apply for a Visa Screen Certificate before taking NCLEX?
3) Is there anyone who knows which hospital in Milwaukee area is sponsoring for a green card?
Thank you so much.

Hi Suzanne, you are a life saver for many of us. I thinking everyone who have benefited from your advise should pay you $5.00 for every hour they have worked in the US for at least one month... I mean it.
I have a question, Does African nurses need a BSN before they can start the process to be able to migrate to US for job placement?
Thank you very much for all your time and attention for me and everybody here.
Thanks and best regards.

You are not required to be in the US within 90 days of passing the exam, you cannot even start the process until after you have passed the exam. Not sure who is giving you that information but it isw completely wrong.
Your choice on what to do, but either of those contracts of what you have mentioned do not sound good to me. If you are asking my opinion, I would never, ever tell someone to sign one of those. You will have issues later on, and if they are telling you that the salary varies that much, then they have no idea where they will be placing you, and your contract can be sold to the highest bidder.
No salary deduction, but $15 per hour? They are taking something from your pay.

And how do you know that they are reputable? Based on what?

As a foreign nurse, it is always much better to have taken the NCLEX exam first and passed it before starting a job, and especially if you are going to go to a new area. It will also boost your confidence tremendously.
Yuo do not need the Visa Screen Certificate to start the petitoning process for the green card, and since you trained in the US, it should only take you a bout one month to get. Yuor choice when to submit the application.

Thank you for the nice note.
You must be considered a first level nurse in your country, and for many that is the BSN or equivalent. Many programs in Afrrica issue a Diploma that is at least three years long, and that usually is accepted for immigration purposes. The equivalent of the LPN or EN is not accepted.

Hi!!! Suzanne,
The more I read the threads, I am getting even more confused.
Ok...U told me to start looking for the job. Since I m in F-1 status right now..and the Visascreen is still in the process....I have no idea what to do next.
I filled the application (endorsement) for Nebraska.
What should I do next? I think that I cant do nothing without VSC.
Thanks a lot in advance....
