CA lists a requirement, but they do not aske for any proof.
You cannot provide a SSN# if you do not have one, and you will not get one until you complete the immigration process. CA will not endorse and give you a permanent license until you give them the SSN#. Takes a week or two after you give them the SSN#. You have nothing to worry about.

Is there a way I could get an ITIN# outside of the US? ITIN is another alternative that California BON is asking if I cannot give them a SSN# for them to issue my license.
Can you recommend an agency that can get me to the US in 10 months? Or is HI visa be another alternative for a quick entry to the US? What do you think?
Thanks,

NCLEX-RN exam never expires. Period. Once you pass it, you have passed it and do not take it again.
The ITIN# cannot be used in place of a SSN# for CA.
You have me confused, did you just take the CGFNS exam, and not the NCLEX-RN? With the new program coming into place, and for an additional $1000, you should be able to be in the US in the ten months. But if you are talking of the time frame for taking the NCLREX exam, it does not need to be done in the US.

Hi, Suzaane,
As you know, I am looking for a job in the States. A recruiter from Boston came up to me and offered me a job in Lutheran Medical Center in Brooklyn NYC after several correspondences and telephone calls. She seems very satisified with my education and Oral English. But what I concern most is if she could be trustful. According to her suggestion, I need to go to the States on visiting visa staying with my friend there. I can't work during the first 90 days due to the visa status. But I could take TSE during this period ( she said TSE was given more often in the States than other country) for my visa screen certificate, and also she will help me to prepare the hospital interview( she dose not suggest me to do it by the phone while I am in Hong Kong since she thinks I'd better to do it in person so that I can take a look about the hospital as well). If I could get the offer from this hospital, they would apply a "work authority"(pre-green card, something like that) which can be issued without CGFNS's certificate. I can work as an RN with "work authority" for 6 months and in the meanwhile, they will apply for my and my husband's green cards after geting my CGFNS' s certificate. Right now, she asks me to sign the authorization to release information forms to CGFNS and NYBON, but I feel uncomfortable about this because if so, my CGFNS's certificate will go to her. She told me why she needs me to sign these forms is because she would speed up the process of my CGFNS's Certificate process. I wonder if it is a normal process for the recruiter? She told me I don't need to sign any contract with her but the hospital, and the hospital will pay for immigration attorney fee. I remeber you said it is not a good thing if the hospital pays for the attorney fee, right? that means I am not free and don't control the situation? Up to now, my job hunting has not really started yet, I am just done with my resume and cover letter. I'd like to have a try to contact with the hospitals I'd like to work in, it might not wise though because I am in Hongkong now. I also don't want to miss a good opportunity. You know, it is hard for me to complete all the CGFNS process by myself. I mean I can do it, but the process will be very slow. Right now, my visa screen status is "ready to review" and it has been in this stage for over 1 month till now. I don't know when they will open my case to review. I feel very frustrated because I don't know what I should do, to sign the papers with this Boston Recruiter, to find another recruiter ( but how I can know which one is good and worth trusting), or to contact the hospitals by myself??
what you think?? Thanks!!

Hi Suzanne4
I am a newbie and I am very delighted to find this forum!! I must commend you on your good work( helping us out by answering our questions).
I believe you could help me out with this one.
I am a UK citizen with an associate degree equivalent in Biomedical Sciences and would love to study nursing in the USA especially in New Jersey or Maryland. I would like to start off at LPN/LVN or Associate nursing degree levels because it would not take long for me to get a licence for work purposes (money is a bit tight). How do I find colleges that would be willing to take me at this level? How much would it cost to study at these levels? Would I be able to get a student visa to study at these levels.
I also intend to study further to obtain a BSN in Nursing at a much later date.
Thanks alot for your response in advance.

Hello dear Suzanne
First I want to appreciate you for your great job.
I have some difficulty for applying for board of nursing and if possible, please help me with that. I have to apply for the CA board of nursing as my agancy advised me, my I-140 is already approved and it seems that I should apply for the nursing board ASAP. I read the previous threads and came to know that your advise is to apply for NY, is that correct? shall I do that? or it's for people who are not make sure about which state they will go in the future?
Secondary, the requirements for the CA board of nursing:
- Do I have to do the fingerprint.....what about the SSN
-I've passed the CGFNS exam, so they have my documents. Are those doc enough for the nursing board? I saw two forms ( Request for Transcript, Breakdown of Educational program ) if I ask the CGFNS to send them a copy of my doc and pay for that, do I still have to send them these forms?
I'm really confused. Thanks for your attention in advance and waiting for your help.
God Bless

Thank you very much Ma'am Suzanne.

Thank you Suzanne for helping so many people with honest and reliable info!
I have 2 questions...
1) I am european and have a ss number from many years ago when I studied in USA. According to SS it is still active. Would you still recommend NY as best state to apply?
2) If so, on Nurse Form 1 of NY Licence application, will a UK notary be acceptable for the affidavit? Or do I need to go to the USA embassy?
