Where do you actually wish to work since you posted the same thing for several different countries?

That is why you are not getting much in the way of a response to your post.

Easier if you would have just posted on the International Forum and asked what you wanted to know. Just know that we came across several on both of the sub-forums and any questions having to do with licensure and/or immigration need to be placed on the International Forum.

Both Canada and Australia require licensure there before you can work. Each province in Canada has individual licensure as well as the states in Australia. You should narrow it down to where you are interested in and then go for licensure based on that.

Where did you train and how much experience do you actually have?

i've graduated in the Philippines on a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and have worked for 3 years (in total) before settling in the UK last 2002. i have been a trained nurse for 6 years now and have worked in several areas since like an Elderly Care ward, Dermatology ward, a Medical Admissions (where people from A&E come in) ward and currently now working on a Plastic Surgery work ward and have been there for 3 years running now. i have various trainings and study days i've took since coming to the UK (including the once-a-year mandatory trainings) and i'm willing to work as soon as possible.

Would start with licensure first, it will be much easier to get a job that way. Nothing is going to be immediate. Visas are based on where you were born, not the country where you are currently residing or hold a passport from, but what was on your birth certificate.

Since you have experience, you should not need to do the bridge program for Australia; but since you trained in the Philippines, they will require the IELTS exam for English skills. You may wish to check with them, but suspect that this requirement will not be waived for you.

I don't think you need to sit an exam for Australia, that has been the impression I have seen from another website as well as here but you do have to go through licensure with the province you wish to work in. I have also seen, on the other website which has a lot of UK nurses going to Australia, many talking about IELTS if they wanted the extra points although wasn't necessary as trained in English. Also just had a quick look at another site for reference and there is no mention on a start date but does state that IELTS is required if not a native speaker of English, exception would be if gained a tertiary degree when English is the main language

Re: Nurse Jobs in Ausstralia Inquiry

To find out requirements for becoming registered as an RN in Australia you need to check with the appropriate state Nursing Board.

For example in Tasmania;

OVERSEAS NURSE APPLICANTS
♦ Overseas nurse applicants who undertook their education preparation in United
Kingdom, Ireland, South Africa (and who gained initial registration/enrolment with the
South African Nursing Council), New Zealand, United States of America, Canada and
Singapore may apply direct to the Nursing Board of Tasmania.
♦ Overseas nurse applicants coming to Australia from overseas countries (other than
those listed above) may apply direct to the Nursing Board of Tasmania for assessment
of their nursing qualifications.
♦ Overseas nurse applicants who are applying for migration should first contact the
Australian Nursing & Midwifery Council for an application form for assessment of their
nursing qualifications prior to making application with this Board. The address is
www.anmc.org.au

In NSW;

An English language test is frequently not required where an applicant's nursing course was completed and the person subsequently registered as a nurse in Australia, New Zealand, United Kingdom, Ireland, the United States or certain parts of Canada.

I noted in all cases an IELTS score of 7.0 is required if your initial training was not done in English.

The Boards of Nursing are your first port of call for any questions on Australian registration.

so, since in the Philippines our second language is English...and i've trained and working here in the UK would i need an IELTS in applying for Australia and/or Canada?
