Question - NM License Renewal, anyone?

Good morning..I'm a new member here..I had been reading this site for quite sometime now...I find this site very useful as I'm planning to apply licensure in NM...I have some questions though, I hope someone would be kind enough to reply...
I have read in some threads that NM licensure renewal needs SSN, what happens to the license if the nurse fails to renew?

Retrogression is present here in th Philippines, so I'm expecting that if I pass NCLEX and IELTS, then apply for VisaScreen Certificate, be petitioned, then apply for green card now, my papers for immigration will be processed in year 2013 or 2014... and NM license expires every 2 years...

What happens if the my papers for immigration will be processed in year 2013 and I don't have an active license in NM?

To hyveth,
I, too, am registered as an RN in NM. I have E-mailed the NM BON regarding your concern before, because just like you, I, too, was worried I might not be able to renew my NM license without an SSN. The NM BON replied, and their instruction to me was to just go on and renew my license as per their procedures and requirements for license renewal. (You can check their website for these things.) They told me to just leave the field for the SSN on the application form blank, and that they will renew my license even without an SSN. What they are more concerned about is the 30 Contact Hours required for license renewal. They advised me not to send in the signed renewal application form unless I have truly complied the 30 Contact Hour requirement. Filing your license renewal form without actually complying with the CEU requirement would be tantamount to Falsification of public documents, since signing the license renewal from is an attestation of complying with the NM requirements for renewal of licensure (i.e, CEU's). If by chance, the BON decides to audit you (the RNs subject for audit is chosen at random), and you have no certificate of completion of 30 Contact Hours to show the BON, your license will be revoked. Furthermore, you might have trouble getting into the US because falsification of public documents is serious. I'm not pretending to be an expert in this matter. I have no experience in renewing my license yet, either, because it won't be expiring any time soon. I really don't know much, except for what I had been told in response to my E-mail to the NM BON. I'm just sharing it with you and the rest of the readers. I suggest you make inquiries directly to them yourself if you have further questions. They do reply to queries, you know. I hope this helps.
